The Phase Linear D-500 Series Two (originally badged as the Dual 500) is the most powerful and expensive stereo power amplifier Phase Linear ever manufactured. Released in 1978, it bypassed the 700 Series Two to claim the absolute zenith of the brand’s high-power lineup.
The amplifier was initially conceptualized and started by Bob Carver. After he departed in 1977 to start the Carver Corporation, Phase Linear staff engineers—led by A.P. Van Meter—completely overhauled and finalized the design.
